Description

Resonate completed the acoustic design for this $150 million new development for the ACT Law Courts. The new facility accommodates the Court of Appeal, Supreme Court, Magistrates Court and Children’s Court with a four-storey new link building fronting Vernon Circle which joins the existing Magistrates and refurbished Supreme Court buildings.

Resonate worked closely with Lyons to successfully coordinate the acoustic requirements into the architectural documentation. The Juris Partnership was awarded the PPP contract in 2015 and the project was completed in early 2020.

How was SS used?

The internal noise levels within the Court Rooms spaces were required to meet stringent requirements so that in association with the AV design, speech intelligibility in the Court and via video conferencing was excellent. SoundSurfer allowed through analysis of the mechanical services design which was especially critical considering the proximity of plant rooms to the Courts.

Engineer quote

One of the acoustic engineers working on this project quotes:

“SoundSurfer allowed us to assess the mechanical design easily and trial various solutions for further attenuation when required. Due to the critical nature of the internal noise levels within the Court Rooms, SoundSurfer provided us with the confidence that the project requirements could be met even though the design was complex.”
